Solflare has grown from a Solana-focused wallet into a broader gateway for staking, swaps and hardware-backed signing. It still puts Solana first, but its feature set is now much wider than simple storage and transfers.

In this Solflare Wallet review, we examine its security, fees, staking, hardware support, DeFi tools and newer features to see where it stands in 2026, and who it is best suited for.

Solflare Wallet Review 2026: Quick Verdict

Solflare is a feature-rich, self-custody wallet built primarily for the Solana ecosystem. Its strongest features include native SOL staking, validator selection, swaps through Jupiter, DeFi portfolio tracking, NFTs and multiple hardware-signing options through Solflare Shield, Ledger and Keystone. It is best suited to Solana-first users, while those seeking broad native multichain support may prefer an alternative such as Phantom.

Our take: Solflare is one of the strongest wallet options for users who spend most of their time on Solana. Native staking and hardware support are particularly compelling, while its expanding Bridge, tokenized-asset, borrowing and privacy features make the wallet increasingly capable. That expansion also introduces more complexity, third-party dependencies and transaction risks for beginners.

For this Solflare Wallet review, we evaluated the wallet across six main categories: Solana support, security, staking, DeFi and trading, ease of use, and fees and value.

Research was conducted in August 2026 using Solflare's current website, help center, security documentation, staking and swap guidance, Bridge documentation, hardware-wallet materials, product announcements and current web, browser-extension and mobile functionality.

We assessed documented wallet setup, recovery, staking, swapping, hardware-signing, cross-chain funding and DeFi workflows. We did not execute funded transfers, swaps, Bridge transactions, staking actions or borrowing positions, so we do not claim independently measured transaction speeds, execution quality, staking returns or service fees.

We also considered Solflare's principal risks and limitations, including recovery-phrase exposure, phishing, malicious DApp approvals, hot-wallet exposure, validator risk, swap slippage, third-party integrations, Bridge routing, tokenized-asset restrictions, borrowing liquidations and the temporary pause affecting the Solflare Card as of Aug. 19, 2026.

What Is Solflare Wallet?

Solflare is a self-custody cryptocurrency wallet built primarily for storing, sending, staking and using assets on the Solana blockchain.

Launched in 2020, Solflare was developed around Solana and has remained closely connected to the ecosystem as the network has expanded. The wallet is available as a web wallet, browser extension and mobile app for iOS and Android. Solflare's current terms identify Solrise Finance Ltd as the company providing the unhosted, non-custodial wallet software.

Users control the private keys needed to sign transactions rather than depositing assets into an account controlled by Solflare. A recovery phrase backs up a conventional software wallet, and the product supports SOL, SPL tokens, NFTs, Solana DApps, swaps, native staking, fiat purchases and hardware-wallet connectivity.

Solflare remains Solana-native, but users can now enter the ecosystem with assets held elsewhere. Its cross-chain deposit functionality can route supported assets from external blockchains into Solana. This is cross-chain funding rather than native management of all those source networks.

Solflare Fees: What Does It Cost?

Solflare does not charge one universal wallet fee. Costs depend on what you do and can include Solana network fees, validator commission, swap execution costs, liquidity-dependent charges and fees from integrated third-party providers.

A basic SOL transfer only requires the applicable Solana network fee. Swaps, Instant Unstake, cross-chain deposits, fiat purchases and Private Send can introduce additional costs, so users should review the final quote before signing a transaction.

Network Fees, Priority Fees and SOL Requirements

A standard Solana transaction has a base network fee of 5,000 lamports per signature, equal to 0.000005 SOL per signature. Transactions can also include an optional priority fee.

Priority fees pay for additional scheduling priority and vary according to the compute-unit limit and compute-unit price selected for the transaction. They are Solana network fees rather than fixed charges imposed by Solflare.

Users should therefore keep some SOL available instead of staking or spending their entire balance. Solflare's current transaction-fee guidance recommends maintaining roughly 0.01 to 0.05 SOL as a practical buffer for transaction fees and account-related costs. Its swap guidance recommends keeping at least 0.05 SOL available because some swap routes can require more complex transactions.

SPL-token transfers can also require an associated token account to be created when the recipient does not already have the necessary account for that token. Funding the account can add to the amount of SOL required for the transaction.

Solflare also supports Gasless Send and Gasless Swap as fallback features when a user does not have enough SOL to pay the network fee.

With Gasless Send, Solflare can deduct the required fee from the token being sent rather than requiring an existing SOL balance. Gasless Swap works similarly by deducting the fee from the token being sold. Solflare describes these features as automatic fallbacks rather than replacements for keeping SOL available.

Swap Fees, Slippage and Price Impact

Solflare's in-wallet swap uses Jupiter Aggregator to search Solana liquidity and construct routes between supported tokens. Solflare does not publish one fixed percentage that represents the total cost of every swap.

Users should instead review the quote presented before signing. A swap can involve the Solana network fee, DEX or routing costs, slippage and price impact.

Slippage is the permitted difference between the expected execution price and the price at which the trade actually executes. Solflare's current swap instructions state that the default slippage tolerance is 0.5%, although users can adjust it.

A higher slippage setting can increase the likelihood that a volatile trade executes, but it also permits a worse execution price. Users should not increase slippage without understanding the potential cost.

Staking and Unstaking Costs

Native SOL staking through Solflare does not carry a separate Solflare staking platform fee. Users delegate SOL directly to a validator, and the validator deducts its commission from staking rewards.

Solflare's staking material places typical validator commission at approximately 3% to 7% of rewards as of Aug. 19, 2026. This is a percentage of the staking rewards earned, not 3% to 7% of the SOL being staked.

Validator commission is not fixed across the network. Individual validators set their own rates, so users should check the validator's current commission before delegating.

Standard native unstaking does not incur Solflare's Instant Unstake fee. Instead, users wait for the stake account to deactivate according to Solana's epoch schedule. Solflare places this cooldown at approximately 2 to 4 days, although the precise timing depends on where the request falls within the current epoch.

Users who need their SOL sooner can choose Instant Unstake where available. According to Solflare's Instant Unstake guidance, the service charges approximately 0.5% to 3%, as of Aug. 19, 2026, depending on available liquidity. The exact fee is displayed before confirmation.

Is Solflare Wallet Safe?

Solflare uses a self-custody security model, meaning Solflare does not control the private keys required to spend a user's assets. This removes centralized exchange custody risk, but users remain responsible for protecting their recovery phrase and approving transactions safely.

Self-Custody and Built-In Security

With self-custody, private keys remain under the user's control and transaction signing happens from the user's wallet environment. A recovery phrase acts as the master backup for a standard Solflare software wallet, so possession of that phrase can allow another person to recreate the wallet.

Solflare's security documentation describes locally encrypted wallet data, biometric authentication on supported mobile devices, application locking, transaction simulation, malicious-site checks and Solflare Guards.

These protections address different threats. Biometrics and locking help prevent unauthorized local access to an app, while transaction simulation helps reveal what a proposed transaction may do. Phishing and malicious-DApp warnings attempt to identify suspicious destinations, and token checks can flag assets associated with scams or impersonation.

The controls reduce risk without providing certainty. New phishing domains and malicious DApps may evade screening, and a user can still authorize an unsafe transaction despite a warning.

Audits, Open-Source Code and Security History

Solflare has a published security audit, but the scope is narrower than a full audit of every wallet client. ConsenSys Diligence reviewed three MetaMask Snaps in August 2023, including the Solflare Snap. The engagement used nine person-days, and the report explicitly excluded the DApp wallets interacting with the Snaps.

The audit therefore provides evidence about a specific Solflare component. It should not be presented as proof that every mobile, web and extension component has undergone the same security review.

Solflare also maintains a public GitHub organization containing code for components including its MetaMask Snap, SDKs, token-list tooling and security-related repositories. That improves independent visibility into parts of the stack, but the public repositories do not establish that every production client and supporting component is fully open source.

In 2022, the Solana Foundation's investigation reported 9,231 affected wallets and approximately $4.1 million drained after private-key information was compromised. The investigation connected affected addresses to the Slope mobile wallet and found no evidence that the underlying Solana protocol caused the incident.

Users can also lose funds through phishing, malware, compromised seed phrases or malicious signing without any security vulnerability in Solflare itself. Those events should be distinguished from a product-level compromise.

Solflare Shield, Ledger and Keystone Support

Solflare supports several hardware-wallet workflows, giving users a way to retain software-wallet functionality while isolating the private key used for transaction signing.

Solflare Shield is a screenless, battery-free hardware wallet designed for the Solflare mobile app. It communicates through NFC and stores key material on an EAL6+ secure element. There is no Bluetooth connection, charging requirement or hardware display.

Signing begins in the mobile app, after which the user taps Shield to the phone and authorizes the transaction with the required PIN or biometric flow. The private key remains isolated on the card. Shield uses a recovery phrase at the backup layer, so losing the card is not necessarily equivalent to losing the wallet as long as the valid recovery backup remains protected.

The screenless architecture has a trade-off: transaction details are reviewed through the phone rather than independently on the hardware device. Users still need to inspect the mobile transaction carefully before signing.

Ledger provides another hardware-signing route, while Keystone uses QR-based, air-gapped signing in supported Solflare workflows. Hardware isolation can greatly reduce private-key extraction risk from a compromised computer or phone, but it cannot protect someone who knowingly authorizes malicious instructions.

What Solflare Cannot Protect You From

Solflare cannot recover funds after a user exposes a seed phrase or private key to an attacker. A fake Solflare website, malicious browser extension, fraudulent support account or convincing social-engineering attack can still persuade someone to disclose credentials.

Malware can manipulate clipboard addresses, and a malicious DApp can attempt to make a wallet drain look like a normal transaction approval. Transaction simulations and warnings are useful defenses, but users remain responsible for checking what they authorize.

Sending crypto to the wrong address creates another risk that security software cannot reverse. Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible once confirmed, so address verification remains necessary even when the wallet itself is functioning correctly.

Solflare Staking: Is It Good for SOL Stakers?

Solflare is particularly strong for native SOL staking because users can create stake accounts, choose validators and manage rewards directly from the wallet. The staking flow preserves self-custody and gives users direct validator control instead of converting SOL into a centralized yield balance.

Native SOL Staking and Validator Selection

Native Solana staking creates an on-chain stake account and delegates its SOL to a validator. Solflare lets users choose the validator rather than forcing delegation to one predetermined operator. Our guide to staking SOL with Solflare covers the process in more detail.

As checked on Aug. 19, 2026, Solflare places native staking yield at approximately 5.5% to 7% APY, depending on the validator. Validator commission is typically around 3% to 7% of rewards.

Neither figure is fixed. APY can change with network issuance, total SOL staked, validator performance and other network conditions, while each validator sets its own commission policy.

Unstaking and Instant Unstake

Standard unstaking deactivates the stake account through Solana's normal epoch process. Solflare currently describes the typical native unstaking delay as roughly 2 to 4 days, although exact timing can vary with the epoch and network conditions.

Instant Unstake provides faster liquidity but charges an additional liquidity-dependent fee. Users can also manage partial stake positions instead of necessarily removing every staked SOL from an account.

Rewards earned before deactivation remain associated with the stake position. Once the stake deactivates, the SOL becomes withdrawable and can return to the liquid wallet balance.

Trading, Swaps and DeFi on Solflare

Solflare functions as a Solana portfolio and DeFi interface rather than only a token wallet. Users can trade, connect to applications and monitor assets deployed across supported protocols without leaving the wallet for every portfolio check.

In-Wallet Swaps

Solflare Swap routes trades through Jupiter Aggregator and supports SOL, USDC and other SPL tokens with sufficient liquidity. The wallet generates a quote, provides slippage controls and shows transaction details before approval.

Cheap Solana gas does not compensate for weak liquidity, and a large order can receive significantly worse execution than the headline token price suggests.

Solflare also identifies common failure conditions in its swap troubleshooting material, including changing market conditions and transaction configuration. Users should review the quote again when a failed transaction is resubmitted rather than assuming the previous terms still apply.

DeFi Positions and DApp Access

DeFi Positions gives users a consolidated view of assets deployed across Solana protocols. Solflare says the feature can track positions across more than 90 supported protocols, covering lending, borrowing, liquidity pools, vaults, farms, liquid staking and other protocol positions.

Representative integrations include Kamino for lending and borrowing, Raydium for decentralized trading and liquidity, and Jito for liquid staking alongside Jupiter's broader Solana trading infrastructure.

NFT and Token Management

Solflare supports standard SPL token management alongside Solana NFTs and other collectibles. Users can view NFT metadata, organize holdings and manage collectibles from the portfolio rather than treating them as ordinary fungible-token balances.

Its NFT and portfolio tools also include bulk-management functionality and controls for unwanted assets. Suspicious tokens and NFTs should not be interacted with simply because they appear in a wallet. Spam assets can contain names, imagery or links intended to send users to phishing sites.

Does Solflare Support Other Blockchains?

Solflare remains a Solana-native wallet rather than a conventional multichain wallet, but its cross-chain deposit feature allows users to fund Solana from supported external networks. The important distinction is between blockchains the wallet supports natively and networks that can serve as sources for assets routed into Solana.

Native blockchain support

Native support means a wallet can directly manage accounts, assets and DApps on the underlying blockchain. Solflare's native wallet environment remains centered on Solana rather than providing direct account management across every external network.

Users who want several chains in one interface can consider Phantom Wallet or Trust Wallet.

Cross-chain funding

Solflare Bridge uses permanent deposit addresses for supported source-chain and receiving-token combinations. A user can, for example, send funds from another network to a designated deposit address and receive SOL, USDC or another supported asset on Solana, depending on the selected route and available liquidity.

Supported source networks include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Tron, NEAR and Base, with additional networks available or planned. Solflare says most supported EVM routes settle in around one minute, while Bitcoin deposits take around 14 minutes under normal conditions.

Bridge launched in late July 2026 with 0% Solflare fees for the first 30 days, capped at $125,000 in aggregate waived fees. As of Aug. 19 2026, the calendar window has not expired, although the promotion can end sooner if the waiver cap is exhausted. Standard published pricing after the promotion is 0.1% for stablecoin-to-stablecoin transfers and 1% for other token combinations, calculated on the asset received. Source-chain network costs can still apply.

Solflare Card and Other New Features

Solflare's newer services extend the wallet into payments, tokenized stocks, privacy and collateralized borrowing. These features expand utility but introduce separate issuers, protocols, compliance requirements and financial risks.

Solflare Card

The Solflare Card is currently temporarily paused.

The card program was a Mastercard debit product designed to spend the USDC stablecoin directly from a self-custody-linked wallet. Users retained control of their funds until a payment triggered the required spending transaction rather than topping up a conventional custodial card balance.

On July 28, 2026, Solflare announced that physical and virtual Solflare Cards had stopped working after issuing partner Kulipa could no longer support the program. Wallet balances, swaps and SOL staking were unaffected.

Solflare said a new card issuer was being integrated and that the replacement program was expected in August. The company said the new version was intended to support both Google Pay and Apple Pay, higher spending limits and cashback. As of Aug. 19, 2026, Solflare has not published a subsequent operational announcement confirming that the replacement program is live.

xStocks, Private Send and Card Borrows

Solflare supports 133 tokenized stocks and ETFs, comprising 106 stocks and 27 ETFs from the Kraken xStocks catalogue. Solflare's xStocks announcement provides a promotional period with no Solflare trading fee for four months or until the allocated campaign budget is exhausted. Solana network and route-side fees still apply.

xStocks provide tokenized exposure rather than conventional brokerage ownership. They are tokenized debt instruments issued by Backed Assets (JE) Limited, and holders do not receive ordinary shareholder voting or dividend rights. Purchases are restricted in jurisdictions including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Nigeria, among others.

Private Send

Solflare's Private Send is an optional privacy feature that initially integrates Houdini. It aims to obscure the direct sender-recipient relationship while leaving transaction activity, including the amount, visible on-chain.

It should therefore not be described as fully anonymous. Solflare does not add an additional fee, but the integrated provider determines its own fee, which is displayed before approval. Processing can take several minutes and introduces an additional provider dependency.

Card Borrows

Solflare also supports borrowing USDC against SOL collateral through Kamino-powered Card Borrows. Users typically select a borrowing level between 10% and 50% of collateral value, while supply and borrowing costs are variable.

If the LTV, or loan-to-value ratio, rises above 75%, Solflare warns that the position can be liquidated. Falling SOL prices and accrued borrowing interest can therefore push a position closer to liquidation.

The card pause affects the payment side of the feature. Existing Borrow positions remain accessible and the Borrow option remains available in the Cards tab, but normal card payments remain disabled until the issuer transition is completed.

Solflare Magic remains in closed beta as of Aug. 19, 2026. The Magic interface uses AI to assist with trading, market information and DeFi actions, but users continue to review and sign transactions themselves. Solflare says Magic does not receive users' private keys.

Solflare's core wallet flows are relatively direct, while staking, swaps, cross-chain deposits and DeFi introduce more financial concepts and transaction decisions. Our assessment here is based on the current product flows and documentation rather than claiming unperformed hands-on execution tests.

Setup and Everyday Use

The current wallet setup follows a standard self-custody sequence: create or import a wallet, secure local access, record the recovery phrase and fund the resulting Solana address.

Receiving SOL mainly involves copying or sharing the wallet address. Sending introduces the recipient, amount and transaction review. Swapping adds a quote, slippage and route information, while staking requires users to understand validators, commission, delegation and activation timing.

Transaction warnings are useful because Solflare attempts to describe proposed actions before transaction approval. Advanced users can also reach staking, DeFi, trading and portfolio tools without connecting separate interfaces for every routine task. The downside is greater product density than a wallet designed solely for storage and transfers.

Mobile vs Browser Extension vs Web

Solflare offers mobile apps for iOS and Android, a Chrome extension, support for Firefox, and a web wallet. The official download page currently lists Chrome, Firefox, iOS and Android alongside browser-based access.
